Ancient

Empires, monuments and the first cities.
A daily expedition through history
Seven moments from history. One year to guess each. The closer you get, the further your airship travels — from ancient empires to the world we know.
Season I · Day 1
Free · no sign-up · a new puzzle at local midnight
Two minutes, once a day
Think of it as a daily ritual for the historically curious: a tiny time machine you open with your morning coffee.
A battle, an invention, a first crossing, a famous life. Each of the seven prompts is a real moment from history, stripped of its year.
Type the year you think it happened and press GO. You have 25 seconds and one guess. The clock warns you before the last five seconds run out.
The closer your guess, the further your airship flies: through Ancient, Medieval, Early Modern, Industrial and Modern skies. Then see the real year, a verified fact and its source.
Closer is further
Seven questions, 100 points each, 700 for a perfect day. The rules are simple; the history is not — so older moments give you more room to be off by a few years.
| Your guess | Points | Tier |
|---|---|---|
| The exact year | 100 | Timekeeper |
| Very close | 85 | Chronicler |
| Near | 60 | Historian |
| Rough | 35 | Explorer |
| Far | 15 | Wanderer |
| Anything else | 5 | Tourist |
| Time ran out | 0 | Lost in Time |
Being twenty years off the invention of the iPhone is a poor guess. Being twenty years off the destruction of Pompeii is an excellent one. Eraly scales the allowed error with the age of the event: the further back you travel, the more generous the window, and the more the game rewards real historical intuition over rote dates.
Everything is decided in your browser the moment you press GO — no accounts, no server round-trips, and the same seven moments for everyone playing today.
Five skies to cross
Every guess moves the airship along a single, continuous timeline from the first century to today. Land a perfect answer and the sky turns to gold.

About the game
Eraly is a free daily history game at eraly.net. Every day you get seven moments from history — a battle, an invention, a famous first — and one guess at the year each one happened. The closer your guess, the further your airship travels through five eras, from ancient empires to the modern world.
There is no sign-up and no app to install: Eraly runs in your browser, on desktop and mobile. Each daily puzzle is the same for everyone playing on that local date, and a new one appears at local midnight. Every answer reveals a short, verified fact with a link to the Wikipedia article it came from, so you can check the history for yourself.
Prefer a longer run? The free Endless Expedition mode gives you three chrono-cells, score combos and a tightening clock. If you are looking for a daily history game, a year-guessing quiz, or simply a two-minute time-travel break, Eraly is built for you.

A new daily puzzle appears at midnight in your local time. Season I opened on 25 October 2026 — that date is Day 1, and the day number counts forward from there, wrapping back to Day 1 after 365 days. The seven moments are the same for everyone playing on that date.
Each answer earns up to 100 points out of a possible 700 for the day: exact year 100, very close 85, near 60, rough 35, far 15, otherwise 5, and 0 if you do not answer. Older events allow more years of error, because exact dates are harder to know the further back you travel.
Every fact is drawn from the cited Wikipedia article and links to it on the reveal card. Eraly does not invent history: questions are built from verified daily-history records and each answer can be checked at its source.
The Endless Expedition is Eraly's free infinite mode. You start with three chrono-cells, build combos for score multipliers, earn extra lives with exact answers and see how many laps through history you can complete before the clock and your luck run out.
